‘A series of high quality concerts brought to you by some of the most talented musicians in the country’.
‘Concerts in Caversham’ continues to establish an enviable reputation for intimate music-making in a warm and relaxed style. Now entering its eighth year of chamber-music concerts, the series was established by Adrienne Black (pianist and harpsichordist) and Timothy Watts (oboist - Royal Philharmonic Orchestra), to promote a high quality and fully professional concert series using some of this country’s finest musicians. To date the series has show-cased three BBC Young Musician of the Year finalists, along with principal players from some of this country’s finest orchestras and ensembles, including The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra for the Royal Opera Covent Garden, The London Sinfonietta, The Britten Sinfonia the Halle Orchestra and the Oxford Philomusica.
The programmes range across many musical styles, from Baroque to the 20th Century including a Jazz concert each year. Ensembles range from duos to The Caversham Ensemble Chamber Orchestra (twelve – fifteen musicians) for the popular ‘Christmas Concert by Candlelight’.
With the invaluable help of volunteers from the St Andrew’s community, use of a lovely August Forster grand piano, the wonderful acoustic of St Andrews Church and growing audiences, the series is set fair to continue providing wonderful music of the highest calibre for the foreseeable future.
